After the festive season and after New Year’s, most of us have decided it’s time to cleanse our bodies and give our livers a break. But some, choose instead to go on a diet, focus on their health and watch their calorie intake. If you are one of those, or have already fallen off the bandwagon of sobriety, this article is for you.
If you’ve just started a diet, you’ll want to take note of this alcohol calorie chart, because after all a few sips never hurt anyone:
Sauvignon Blanc: 150ml (a small glass of wine) is equivalent to around 123 calories, and around 3 grams of carbohydrates.
Chenin Blanc: With slightly less calories than Sauvignon Blanc, this average glass of wine is equivalent around 120 calories with 4.9 grams of carbohydrates per glass.
Chardonnay: Has a substantial amount of less calories with only 84 per glass with an average of 3.18 grams of carbs.
Rosè: Also lower than Sauvignon Blanc and Chenin Blanc comes in at 2.9 grams per glass – do remember that this rose gold calorie drink only counts for dry and not semi-sweet wines!

Gin: Has very little to zero carbs, however it does contain 263 calories. But when mixed with tonic, the tonic has 32 grams of carbs. If you’re a little scared of that calorie count, you could swap out the tonic for soda water.
Whiskey: with 105 calories in a shot, if you though that whiskey was your go-to diet drink, you were misinformed. There is an average of 250 calories found in every 100 grams and 0.1 grams of carbs per serving.
Beer: Interestingly enough, there aren’t as many calories as you may think. A can of beer has only 153 calories – booya! We still recommend you watch that boep!
